Also announced at Apple's "It's Showtime" event in San Francisco yesterday, was the new 2nd generation iPod nano.
Along with a thinner design, five stylish colors, and a 40% brighter display, you can get a 2GB, 4GB, or 8GB (up to 2,000 songs!). Apple promises 24-hour battery life on a single charge.
TINY, TINY!
The nano is a hint thinner than the prior version because its sides are now rounded off, similar to the iPod mini. The new packaging is also much smaller.
THE CONTROLS
The unit’s click wheel center button is now concave rather than convex, making it harder to accidentally press the buttons in your pocket. The center buttons match the color and texture of the iPod nano metal casing.
THE MEDIA
The nano can become your coolest photo album, as the 8GB can hold up to 25,000 snapshots. It also plays audiobooks and podcasts from the iTunes Store, too. iPod nanos also do not play the games released by Apple and others for the fifth-generation iPod today.
COOL ANODIZED ALUMINUM COLORS
Get the 2GB nano in silver, the 4GB nano in silver, green, blue, and pink, and the 8GB nano comes in black.
ACCESSORIES
There is a new iPod nano dock ($29) that is identical in function to the previous dock, but fits to the new nano’s dimensions.
You can also get new iPod nano Lanyard Headphones for $39 with the new earbuds integrated into the cable.
Also, there’s the new iPod USB Power Adapter ($29), which is considerably smaller than the predecessor version but still compatible with all of Apple’s travel adapters.
