Targus Inc. announced the new RemoteTunes for iPod with Dock Connector, a wireless remote for iPod and iPod nano.
Coming in March, it uses the iPod’s 30-pin dock connector to communicate. Because it’s RF-based, it doesn’t need a line of sight to communicate — it can work through walls and other obstructions.
The remote controls volume, fast forward/reverse, advance/previous track, play, pause, shuffle and repeat. To conserve battery life, it goes into “sleep†mode after two minutes.
Targus has also announced the 9-Pin to 30-Pin Adapter, which allows newer Dock Connector-equipped iPods to work with accessories that used the 9-pin remote interface found on older iPods.
Targus said the new interface (also released in March) is compatible with the iPod, iPod nano, iPod mini, fourth-generation iPod and iPod photo.
