The rumor mill was right again, as Apple has announced that it has released a red version of the 4GB iPod nano, known as the iPod nano (PRODUCT) RED.
Similar in price and function as the second-generation iPod nanos, the red nano sports a durable anodized aluminum enclosure and small “(PRODUCT) RED” engraving on the back. The packaging is also very similar to other nanos, but now comes with a (PRODUCT) RED information card.
$10 of every nano (PRODUCT) RED sale goes to the Global Fund to fight HIV/AIDS in Africa.
In a press release, Bono and Steve Jobs commented:
Said Bono: "We're ecstatic that Apple is giving their customers the choice to buy a red iPod nano and help women and children affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa."
"Now customers can buy the best music player in the world and do something to help the world at the same time. We're honored to work with Bono, Red and this team to contribute to an incredibly important initiative and help change the way people think about AIDS in Africa," said Apple chief executive Steve Jobs.
About(RED)
RED) was created by Bono and Bobby Shriver, Chairman of DATA to raise awareness and money for The Global Fund by teaming up with the world's most iconic brands to produce (PRODUCT)RED branded products.
