Last week the TuneVroom team spent some time at the New York Auto Show scoping out the latest in iPod car integration.

To our surprise, we found very little in terms of automakers touting iPod integration as a selling feature. There was virtually no mention of iPod integration and no "Made For iPod" logos on any windshields. This was in direct contrast to the many XM Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio banners found throughout the show.

When we asked vendors directly, a few mentioned that some of their cars did have a dealer installed iPod option available. But that, oddly enough, was the extent of it.

The TuneVroom team is headed to the New York International Auto Show next week. We'll share the latest news (and great pictures, too) of what's going on in the iPod car integration world.

The show runs from April 14th through the 23rd at the Jacob Javits Convention Center (11th ave between 34 & 39 Streets). Tickets are $14.00 for adults and $4.00 for children 12 years and under. You can save some time and avoid waiting in line by purchasing your tickets online.

From the vast amount of iPod-related products at this year's Macworld Expo in San Francisco, the name "iPodworld" may have been a more appropriate title for the show.

We love both the Mac and the iPod so it's a win-win situation for us! In any case, the TuneVroom team took some time to wade through all the iPod gear and pick out the auto related products that caught our eyes...

Scosche Bluetooth BlueLife System for iPod

The Scosche BlueLife System is a Bluetooth wireless interface for the iPod. What's cool about this system is that it is totally wireless - you can stash the iPod anywhere in the car, even hand it around the car without being tied down.

The transmitter connects directly to the iPods headphone jack and digitally transmits to a Bluetooth receiver that is connected to the auxiliary input on the cars head unit.

There is also an OEM version that works with factory stereos and a headless option that will work without any radio installed. An additional Bluetooth Cellular hands-free kit allows you to handle phone calls through the same iPod BlueLife System - automatically muting the music when you dial or receive a call.
